HAWCC played their first home game at Great Haseley and also got their first win of the season. After making sure the rabbit holes were filled and the batteries were in the new light up bails, Robin lost the toss for the first time this season and HAWCC were batting first for the third game in a row.
The top order batman gave the team a sound base, with an improved run rate on the previous matches. Dan kept the board ticking over and Hugh allowed the bowler to test out the new light up bails. Lewis and Muzzi then came in to move things along a little and both reaches their 50s in good time, with Lewis’s man of the match knock coming off only 34 balls. The score of 176 from 35 overs certainly gave the bowlers something to bowl at and wickets fell regularly during the Haddenham innings. The early bowlers kept things tight and the meant that the later Haddenham batmen had to try to push thing along to have a chance of getting the win. This gave the later bowlers and more specifically Guy, the opportunity to gather a few wickets, aided by some sharp catches in the field.
Overall the game was played in a very friendly spirit and we look forward to the return fixture.
